At Courtenay Springs Village we offer residential living, assisted living, skilled nursing, long-term care, and rehabilitation. We have answered some frequently asked questions for each of our levels of care on this page.

Residential Living

Visiting Hours

Our doors are unlocked from 8 am to 8 pm every day. If you would like to have visitors outside of these hours please use the call box.

What is senior residential living?

Senior residential living is a community designed for those 55 and over that desire a worry-free lifestyle and social engagement.

What are the prices?

What languages do you speak at Courtenay Springs Village?

At Courtenay Springs Village at least one member of our staff speaks English, Spanish, German, and Filipino.

Is there any private space available to use?

You may reserve the private dining room for any special event with notice. Contact the front office if you would like to reserve this space.

What appliances come with the apartment?

Each residential apartment home has a full kitchen and is equipped with kitchen appliances.

Is the community pet friendly?

Pets are permitted to visit, and we have specific areas for pets. If you would like a pet friendly apartment, please contact the leasing office for options and additional fee information.

Do I get an assigned parking spot?

All residents are assigned one parking space. Additional guest parking is available on a first come basis in non-reserved parking spaces.

Do you have a beauty salon or barbershop?

At Courtenay Springs Village we have a beauty and barber shop. Inquiries about hours, services, fees, and appointments can be made through the front desk.

Is there a telephone in each apartment?

Each apartment is equipped with telephone hookups. Many residents choose to use their mobile phone as their home phone, instead.

Is there access to cable television?

We offer complimentary access to basic cable television for all residents in their apartment homes. Apartments do not come with televisions.

Are activities provided?

We believe events and activities enrich our resident’s lives and have a powerful impact on one’s general well-being. We create a fun, uplifting environment where our residents can be social, get involved, and enjoy their favorite hobbies and activities.

Is smoking permitted?

For the safety and health of our residents and staff, Courtenay Springs Village is a smoke-free community. We do, however, have designated smoking areas outdoors. Please inquire with the front desk for the location of designated smoking areas.

Who do I talk to about questions in regard to financials, billing, and/or application paperwork?

At Courtenay Springs Village we have a full-time business office manager. Our business office manager will answer any questions you may have regarding financial or billing concerns. To make an appointment with our business office manager, please contact the front desk.

Do you offer transportation services?

We provide scheduled transportation to and from doctor’s visits for our residents (within a 20 mile radius). We also provide transportation for weekly outings, in which our residents can sign up to reserve seating. Please inquire at the front desk for more information.

Assisted Living

Visitors are welcome from 8 am to 8 pm every day. If you would like to have visitors outside of these hours please use the call box.

What is assisted living?

Assisted living is housing for those 55+ who require assistance with activities of daily living. We offer meals, medication services, housekeeping, laundry, and various other services to help each resident attain their highest level of independence.

Do you offer housekeeping?

We provide daily housekeeping. Our friendly and professional staff cleans each assisted living suite daily. If alternative measures must be taken, please contact our front office.

Can family or friends bring pets when visiting?

Our community does not allow pets to live in the assisted living suites, but pets are permitted to visit the assisted living portion of our community. Please make sure all pets are up to date on their vaccinations and that the visiting pet stays on a leash at all times during visits.

Is there any private space available to use?

You may reserve the activities lounge for any special event with notice. Contact the front office if you would like to reserve this space.

Is there a beauty or barbershop on site?

Is there a telephone in each apartment?

Each assisted living suite is equipped with a telephone hookup for resident use. Many residents prefer to bring a mobile device and are welcome to do so.

Is there access to cable television?

We offer access to cable television for all residents in their rooms. Apartments do not come with televisions.

Do the apartments come with full kitchens?

Assisted living suites do not come with full kitchens. At Courtenay Oaks we provide our residents with meals and snacks.

Is there a dining option?

We provide meals and snacks for our assisted living residents in a restaurant-style atmosphere. Our chef works to create flavorful and nutritious food, and we also accommodate special dietary needs for residents with a physician’s order.

Skilled Nursing

Visiting Hours

Courtenay Springs Village Health Center has open visiting hours, based on the well-being of our residents. If you would like to visit before 8am or after 8pm please call in advance to ensure access.

Will Medicare cover my stay in the community?

If your Medicare card says “Hospital Insurance,” and you have had a qualifying hospital stay in the last 30 days, Medicare will generally pay 100% of your first 20 days in a skilled nursing community. For additional information, please contact the admissions office.

How often will a physician or health professional visit?

Generally, each resident sees their physician at move in and every thirty days thereafter. However, our nursing staff is in constant communication with each of our residents’ physicians.

What articles of clothing should we bring?

This is your home, please bring the clothing items you would like, keeping in mind the storage space offered with your accommodations. We recommend bringing at least five changes of clothes and a pair of comfortable rubber-soled shoes. All items should be washed, clearly labeled with the resident’s name, and entered into the resident’s inventory log.

How is the laundry done? Can family members take laundry home?

If you would like us to do your laundry please notify the nursing staff upon move in. Family members can, of course, take care of their loved one’s laundry. If your family member will be washing your laundry please provide a hamper with a lid and ensure it is picked up at least twice a week.

If we are providing laundry service, each item of clothing is washed in an industrial machine at high temperatures. Please make sure the clothing that is brought is appropriate for washing and drying in these high temperatures. Each personal item must be labeled with the resident’s first and last name. We provide a labeling service.

Is there someone who provides haircuts?

At Courtenay Springs Village Health Center we have a beauty and barber shop. Inquiries into hours, services, and appointments can be made through the front desk.

Can my loved one receive mail?

Mail is delivered to each resident daily, except on weekends and holidays.

You may also use our “Send a Greeting” feature where you can type out a note, and we will hand deliver it to your loved one for free. Our “Send a Greeting” feature also offers the option of paying a small fee for a postcard that is mailed to your loved one.

Can children visit?

We encourage children and families to visit their loved ones.

Can we bring a family pet to the community?

At this time we do allow pets to visit the skilled nursing portion of our community, with appropriate vaccination records provided to the nursing staff. We ask that all pets be kept on a leash and under the control of their owner during visits for the safety and comfort of all of our residents.

Can I take my loved one home for a visit?

Residents may take a “leave of absence” with a physician’s authorization. This authorization can be arranged through our nursing staff. When leaving and returning the resident, or responsible party, must sign the “Leave of Absence” book in the nursing station. Per Medicare guidelines, Medicare rehabilitation residents are allowed a 4-hour absence in coordination with their medication.

Can I bring in my loved one’s favorite food?

Always consult with the nursing staff before bringing food to residents. Many of our residents have physician-ordered specific diets with limitations. Any food kept in the resident’s room must be in properly sealed containers and dated.

Who do I talk to about food preferences? Are there alternate options to each day’s menu?

After admission our on-site dietitian interviews all of our residents. Our registered dietitian keeps these meetings in mind when designing our dietary program.

We follow physician orders to meet the needs of each resident, while making sure the meals are enjoyable and full of flavor. We also administer oral supplements, as prescribed by physicians, and provide regular nutritional assessments by our dietitian.

Should you wish for an alternative food item in place of what is on the daily menu, we ask that you inform the CNA. This information will then be passed on to the Food Service Director, and every effort will be made to accommodate needs.

Will my loved one have telephone access?

Each room is equipped with a telephone for resident use. Residents are also welcome to bring their own mobile device.

Will my loved one’s room have a television?

We offer flat screen televisions in each room at no additional cost. Each room is equipped with basic cable.

Rehabilitation

How often will the Rehabilitation staff work with my loved one?

When you arrive at Courtenay Springs Village Health Center you will be assessed and assigned a customized treatment plan. Each plan varies based on the needs of the resident.

How often will a physician or health professional visit?

Respite Stays

How long is a respite stay?

We have Hospice Respite Care and length of stay is 7 days, we have LTC Respite Care for up to two (2) weeks and ALF Respite Care for up to thirty (30) days. We are able to extend Respite Care for any of these service lines.

Will my loved one be involved in the activities in your community? If so, what type of activities?

Yes, it is their choice as to what activities they participate in. Please refer to our Healthcare Center Activity Calendar, or contact our Admissions Coordinator for a list of our Activities.

How will you know what services my loved one needs during their stay?

Physician orders, family direction, medical needs and services are all inclusive with our Respite Care.

Will their insurance cover a respite stay?

Hospice Respite Care is covered by insurance and, LTC or ALF Respite Care is private pay.
